Grading Policy
Emory H. Markle Intermediate School uses a standards based grading system. Standards-based grading measures a student’s mastery of state identified essential standards. You can access your child’s grade at any time using the Community Portal at the following website: https://swsd-parents.k12system.com/CommunityWebPortal/Welcome.cfm

Homework/Assignments
Homework is important in a math class and will be assigned regularly. It is essential that your child completes each homework assignment to keep up with the math course. Homework is to be handed in on time. If homework assignments are not completed, students will be required to complete the assignment before school, after school, or during their lunch period. If your child is absent, he or she will be given an amount of time to make up work which is equal to that of the excused absence(s). Frequent absences usually affect a student’s grade adversely. In math, each class builds on the class before and it can be very difficult to catch up with the material.
Additional Help: Students are encouraged to seek my help as soon as they sense a problem. I will be available before or after school for additional help. Often problems can be solved easily when they are discussed early.
